How to Order at Juice Press.

Juice Press has plenty of juices, smoothies and açaí bowls, but for blood sugar balance and weight loss, I start with the protein smoothies.
The formula is simple: start with Quality Protein, reduce the amount of blended fruit when several sources are stacked together, and use berries or cauliflower rice in place of banana where available. If dates are being used primarily for sweetness, ask for stevia instead.
Build Your Meal
Quality Protein
Start with a protein smoothie, such as:
Blue Magic
Blueberry Genius
Clean Green
Cacao Blueberry
Non-Starchy Veggies
Spinach or kale where included
Cauliflower rice as a swap for banana where available
Healthy Fats
Almond butter
Other nut or seed butters
Coconut-based ingredients where included
Complex Carbs (Optional), choose one
Berries
Banana
Dates
Other fruit
Skipping the Complex Carb?
Swap the fruit for cauliflower rice where available and choose an additional Healthy Fat if you want one.
Make It Your Own
Blue Magic
One of my go-to protein smoothies at Juice Press. Swap the banana for cauliflower rice or berries. You keep the creamy smoothie texture without automatically making banana your Complex Carb.
Blueberry Genius
Another strong protein smoothie. Swap the banana for cauliflower rice or berries and swap the dates for stevia. If you choose berries, count those as your Complex Carb.
Clean Green
A protein smoothie with greens already built in. Swap the banana for cauliflower rice or berries and the dates for stevia. This is one of the easiest ways to turn a sweet green smoothie into a more protein-forward meal.
Cacao Blueberry
Order this one as is. It is one of the rare Juice Press options I don't feel the need to start editing. Juice Press currently lists Cacao Blueberry among its popular smoothie choices.
Juice Press explicitly allows smoothie customization, including removing ingredients and changing the smoothie base, although exact options can vary by location.
Watch Out For
Juices. I don't use juice as a meal for blood sugar balance or weight loss. Juicing removes much of the fiber found in whole fruits and vegetables, and most juices do not provide enough Quality Protein to build a meal around.
Açaí bowls. I skip these for an everyday weight-loss meal. They typically start with blended fruit and add more fruit and toppings. Juice Press currently sells both açaí bowls and protein bowls, but a bowl being marketed as a wellness food does not automatically make it my first choice.
Banana + dates. Neither is a food you need to fear. I simply don't need several sources of blended fruit or concentrated carbohydrate in one smoothie when the goal is a protein-forward meal.
Fruit stacking. If you are keeping berries, you don't automatically need banana and dates too.
Juice cleanses. A “cleanse” is not necessary for your liver or body to detoxify itself. If your goal is a Balanced Meal, start with actual food and Quality Protein rather than replacing meals with juice.
Notes
For the general rules, see how to order at a restaurant for weight loss.
You do not need to eliminate fruit for blood sugar balance or weight loss. The goal is to choose the fruit you actually want instead of automatically stacking several sources into one drink.
Berries are my preferred fruit swap when available. Cauliflower rice can add body and volume without adding another fruit.
Juice Press currently sells dedicated plant protein powders and protein smoothie options.
Juice Press says smoothies can be customized by removing ingredients and changing bases, so ask for the modification when ordering.
Skipping your Complex Carb? Ask for cauliflower rice instead of fruit where available and choose an additional Healthy Fat if you want one.
Menus and substitutions can vary by location, so check current ingredients and allergen information when ordering.
