How to Order at DIG.

Different Digg Inn bowls featuring animal and plant based protein options with greens and avocado

DIG is particularly easy to navigate because its menu is built around proteins, vegetables and market sides. The main thing to watch is stacking several Complex Carbs into one bowl just because they are offered together.

Build your own, or start with one of DIG's plates or bowls and adjust it.

Build Your Meal

Quality Protein
Charred chicken
Herb roasted chicken breast
Char-grilled steak
Seared wild salmon
Crispy tofu
Larger appetite or higher protein needs: add extra protein

Non-Starchy Veggies
Charred broccoli with lemon
Cashew kale Caesar
Tomatoes and cucumbers
Sheet tray carrots
Other seasonal vegetables

Healthy Fats, pick two
Avocado
Cashew Caesar dressing
Pesto
Garlic aioli
Another sauce or dressing, on the side

Complex Carbs (Optional), choose one
Brown rice
Herb rice
Roasted sweet potatoes
Feta grain salad
Cowboy caviar
Dill pickle potato salad
Bread or cornbread

Skipping the Complex Carb?
Choose vegetable sides in place of the rice, grains or potatoes and choose an additional Healthy Fat if you want one.

DIG's current menu lets you build a custom bowl with three market sides and one protein, which makes the Meal Builder particularly easy here.

Make It Your Own

Fan Faves Plate
Herb roasted chicken breast with cashew kale Caesar, sheet tray carrots and pesto. This is one of my favorite starting points because it is already built around Quality Protein and vegetables. DIG currently lists it at 29g protein. It does not contain an obvious Complex Carb, so add one if you want one, or choose an additional Healthy Fat if you are skipping it.

Steak & Greens with Chimichurri
Char-grilled steak with chimichurri over brown rice, with charred broccoli and cashew kale Caesar. This is another strong option. The brown rice is your Complex Carb, steak provides your Quality Protein and you already have plenty of vegetables. DIG currently lists it at 41g protein

Classic DIG
Charred chicken, roasted sweet potatoes, charred broccoli and brown rice with garlic aioli on the side. The protein and vegetables are already handled. Choose the sweet potatoes or brown rice as your main Complex Carb rather than automatically keeping both, and keep the aioli on the side. The current bowl provides 38g protein

Cheesy Cauliflower Chicken Plate
Charred chicken, herb rice and cheesy cauliflower with garlic aioli. This is already fairly simple. Keep the herb rice as your Complex Carb, chicken as your Quality Protein and cauliflower as your vegetable. Get the aioli on the side. DIG currently lists it at 38g protein

Spicy Salmon Bowl
Seared wild salmon, brown rice, roasted sweet potatoes and charred broccoli with lemon and sriracha. Salmon gives you Quality Protein and Healthy Fat, while the broccoli adds your vegetables. Choose the brown rice or sweet potato as your main Complex Carb rather than automatically keeping both. DIG currently lists the bowl at 33g protein

Kale Caesar Salad
Cashew kale Caesar, tomatoes and cucumbers, avocado and breadcrumbs with your choice of protein. Choose a Quality Protein rather than treating the salad itself as your protein. Keep the breadcrumbs as your Complex Carb if you want them, or skip them if you are skipping your Complex Carb. Avocado and the cashew Caesar contribute Healthy Fats.

Build Your Own Bowl
Choose one protein and three market sides. Start with your Quality Protein, use at least one or two choices on Non-Starchy Veggies, then choose one Complex Carb if having one. Finish with your Healthy Fat or sauce. This is probably the easiest way to order at DIG.

Watch Out For

  • The carb stack. Classic DIG has both brown rice and sweet potato, while the Spicy Salmon Bowl does too. You do not need to remove carbs. Choose the ones you actually want and build the rest around protein and vegetables.

  • Hot Honey Chicken Bowl. The current bowl combines chicken with mac and cheese plus maple honey sriracha. It provides plenty of protein, but it would not be one of my first everyday picks when DIG has much easier options to build around.

  • Smoky Sweet Chicken. DIG describes its current seasonal chicken as being coated in a sweet and smoky sauce. If you want it, have it. For a simpler everyday Quality Protein, choose the charred or herb roasted chicken.

  • Sauces on autopilot. Pesto, aioli, Caesar and other sauces can absolutely fit. Choose the ones you actually want rather than automatically adding several.

  • Crispy does not automatically mean fried. DIG's current Crispy Chicken Thigh is breaded in corn flakes and baked, so I would not inaccurately label it as fried. It is still breaded, so just account for that when building the rest of the meal.

Notes

  • For the general rules, see how to order at a restaurant for weight loss.

  • You do not automatically need extra protein. Choose the portion that fits your appetite and needs.

  • Skipping your Complex Carb? Choose vegetable sides instead and you can choose an additional Healthy Fat.

  • Cowboy caviar contains corn, kidney beans and black-eyed peas. In the Eat Shed Glow® Method, I would count it toward your Complex Carb.

  • DIG's sides and Chef's Suggestions change seasonally, so check the current menu when ordering.

  • If you have celiac disease or a food allergy, use DIG's current allergen information when ordering rather than relying on general assumptions.

  • This is your Protein Bowl, built at a counter.
