How to Order at Springbone Kitchen.

Springbone Kitchen makes it unusually easy to build a Balanced Meal around Quality Protein, vegetables and simple ingredients. The entire menu is made without seed oils, refined sugar or gluten.
The thing to watch is the carb stack. Some bowls combine rice with beans, corn, sweet potato or other Complex Carbs. Springbone also has soups and broth-based meals, including a Chicken Zoodle that is one of the easiest lower-carb orders on the menu.

Make It Your Own
Grandma’s Chicken & Rice
Chicken thigh, bone broth rice, lemon garlic broccoli, cabbage slaw, cashew white sauce and hot sauce. This is already an easy Balanced Meal. The rice is your Complex Carb, chicken gives you 51g protein as currently served, and you have two vegetables. Keep it as built, or swap the rice for a vegetable-forward base if you are skipping your Complex Carb.
Honey Dijon Salmon
Sustainable salmon, kale mix, herbed quinoa, lemon garlic broccoli, marinated cucumbers and romesco. Another strong option as built. The quinoa is your Complex Carb and romesco is a Healthy Fat. Springbone currently lists this bowl at 34g protein.
Mexican Bowl
Chicken thigh, bone broth rice, kale mix, black beans, corn salad, guacamole and spicy verde. This is where the carb stack shows up. Choose the rice, black beans or corn as your main Complex Carb rather than automatically keeping all three. Keep the kale, chicken and guacamole and ask about swapping the others for vegetables if available.
Mediterranean Chicken
Chicken thigh, herbed quinoa, tahini beet salad, kale mix, hummus, pickled turnips, feta and tzatziki. Choose the quinoa or hummus as your main Complex Carb rather than automatically keeping both. You already have feta and tzatziki in the bowl, so you do not need to keep adding Healthy Fats.
Chili Tofu Noodle Bowl
Organic chili tofu, rice noodles, lemon garlic broccoli, marinated cucumber and pickled carrots. The rice noodles are your Complex Carb. This is the current plant-based bowl option if you want tofu rather than meat or fish.
Chicken Zoodle
Classic chicken broth, chicken thigh and zucchini noodles. This may be the simplest order on the entire menu. One 16-ounce serving currently provides 33g protein with only 2g carbohydrate, so it works beautifully when you are skipping your Complex Carb. Add a side of vegetables or another Healthy Fat if you want a more substantial meal.
Chicken & Rice Soup
Chicken thigh, Classic Chicken Broth, rice, herbs and vegetables. The rice is already your Complex Carb. One cup provides 11g protein, so I would not rely on a small cup alone as your Quality Protein for a full meal. Pair it with additional protein or use it as part of a larger meal.
Build Your Own Bowl
Choose your base, Quality Protein, vegetables and toppings yourself. Pick your Complex Carb if having one, add your Healthy Fats, and build the rest around vegetables. Springbone currently offers Build Your Own Bowl, making this one of the easiest options on the menu.
Watch Out For
The carb stack. Rice + beans + corn, or quinoa + hummus, can turn one bowl into several Complex Carb choices. You do not need to remove carbs. Choose the ones you actually want.
Sauce stacking. Guacamole, cashew white sauce, romesco, feta and tzatziki can all contribute to your Healthy Fats. Pick the ones you actually want rather than adding everything automatically.
Smoothies as an automatic “healthy” choice. Springbone currently has smoothies built with combinations such as banana, oats, nut butter and milk. I prefer its bowls, Chicken Zoodle and other protein-forward savory options for an everyday Balanced Meal.
Assuming high-quality ingredients automatically make the proportions right for you. Springbone’s ingredient standards are excellent, but you can still build the meal around your appetite and needs.
Notes
For the general rules, see how to order at a restaurant for weight loss.
Springbone currently states that its food contains no seed oils, refined sugar or gluten.
Chicken Zoodle is a particularly useful option when skipping your Complex Carb because the zucchini noodles replace traditional noodles while the chicken provides substantial Quality Protein.
You do not automatically need extra protein. Choose the portion that fits your appetite and needs.
Skipping your Complex Carb? Choose vegetables, greens, cauliflower rice or zoodles where available, and you can choose an additional Healthy Fat.
Beans and hummus contain both protein and carbohydrate. In the Eat Shed Glow® Method, count them as your Complex Carb rather than relying on them as your primary Quality Protein.
Springbone currently lists locations in NYC and Washington, D.C. on its website.
