Build Your Meal

Quality Protein and Complex Carbs
1½-2 cups cooked pasta (Kaizen, Brami or Hero)

Non-Starchy Veggies
2–3 cups steamed veggies or a large side salad

Sauce, choose one

  • 2 Tbsp pesto plus optional 1 tsp parmesan

  • ¾ cup unsweetened marinara made with olive oil, plus choose one: 1 Tbsp olive oil OR 2 Tbsp parmesan for your Healthy Fat

Make It

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Start checking toward the lower end of the cooking time so it doesn't overcook.

  2. Drain, return to the pot, and toss with your sauce.

  3. Serve with your veggies or side salad.

Make It Your Own

Fresh herbs: basil, parsley, or oregano

Heat: red pepper flakes

Finish: black pepper or fresh lemon

Notes

  • These pastas are higher in protein and lower in carbohydrates than traditional wheat pasta, which is why the pasta is your protein here.

  • For marinara, choose one with no added sugar and made with olive oil, such as Rao's Marinara.

  • For dairy-free pesto, try Gotham Greens Vegan Pesto. For dairy-free parmesan, try Violife.

  • Want more protein? Add 3–4 oz of meatballsground meatground turkeysautéed shrimp, or pan-seared chicken breast.
